Excerpta from Scapula Aurea Rules and Regulations

  1. § Rules for Final Competition:
    1. The competition consists of a test of practical knowledge and a test of theoretical knowledge. The questions are the same for students of both polish and english division
    2. Practical part includes recognition of 50 “pins” placed on anatomical preparations (also preparations of developmental anatomy) and images made by means of life-related examinations (X-ray with the use of contrast agents and without their use, also CT and MRI examinations). The number of radiological images will be at most 1/3 of the total number of pins.
      • students receive two answer sheets: sheet I – with numbers from 1-25 and sheet II with numbers 26-50
      • students according to a determined individual order approach subsequent positions; the scheme of practical competition Schemat przechodzenia (194 KB)
      • time allocated to one position, usually containing 2 pins, is 60 seconds. Practical part Część praktyczna (1,39 MB)
      • For ED students the anatomical name will be given in English or in Latin, the participant before entering the practical part declares his choice on the answer card arkusz_II.pdf (4,1 MB); participants receive answer cards of one color
      • abbreviations used in atlases are allowed: m. (Muscle / musculus), n. (Nerve / nervus), a.. (Artery / arteria), art. (Joint / articulatio), v. (Vein / vena), lig. (Ligament / ligamentum); side has to be designated as : right / dex., or left / sin
      • cause Competition Jury has approved practical “pins” – submission of any complaints by participants will not be taken into consideration
      • the rules of scoring the answer
      • - 1 point – the correct anatomical name given in the required language (English / Latin) or name using the eponym,
        - 0 points – for incorrect designation of side (left/right),
        - 0 points – for mistake in structure’s recognition or lack of any answer,
        - 0 points – for using a name that is incompatible with the anatomical nomenclature,
        - 0 points – for using a language incompatible with the required for a given position.
    3. Theoretical partrequires solving 60 MCQ (multiple-choice test questions)
      • each question will contain 5 distractors, of which only one is true or false
      • in the formulated questions there is the naming of anatomical structures in Latin and English
      • time to solve the test is 60 minutes.
      • answers are given on the special sheet scapula_teoria.pdf (697 KB); so for correction of the selected answer, one has to bring correction tool
      • because the analysis of answer sheets is done automatically by the computer. the way of filling and correction of answer sheets is strictly formalized: Sposób wypełniania i korekty kart odpowiedzi (153 KB)
      • complaints regarding the content of the question may be submitted only in writing and only during the theoretical part of the Competition
      • score: 1 point is awarded for the correct answer to one question
      • penalty points will not be used.
      • a participant caught in an attempt to cheat (downloading, using external sources of knowledge) is subject to disqualification
  2. § Preparation of competition questions
    1. Theoretical questions
      • The Organizing Committee prepares the same set of theoretical questions in two languages – Polish and English
      • When formulating questions, English and Latin anatomical names placed in Terminology Anatomica ed. 1998 will be used
      • Questions may relate to anatomically relevant issues from a clinical point of view.
      • The names of non-existent structures will not be included in the questions.
    2. Practical questions – “pins”
      • The Organizing Committee prepares a set of “pins” for the practical part of the Competition
      • In the case of pins – the practical question concerns the first pierced structure
      • In the case of arrows – the practical question concerns the structure indicated by the arrowhead
      • The attached photo Praktyczny sposób (3,1 MB) shows the way for determining structures
